Born and raised in Christchurch, Andrew moved up to Wellington in 2013 to pursue his creative ambitions after his life was shaken up by the Canterbury earthquakes. While studying at Victoria University, Andrew completed a Bachelor and Master of Design Innovation specialising in computer media design.

His Master’s thesis was the first of its kind, pioneering whether neurofeedback, mixed reality hardware and psychedelic-like digital audio-visual experiences could synergise to induce a mind-state favourable for therapy.

During his time studying, Andrew also completed the prestigious Victoria University International Leadership Program, allowing him to study abroad in Singapore on the Nanyang Technological University Global Education and Mobility Trailblazer Programme.

With the travel bug deeply ingrained, after studying in 2016, Andrew backpacked around India and Nepal for 6 months where he became inspired to run his own business. In 2018, while travelling around Guatemala and Mexico, Andrew began creating Psychoactive Studios.

These days, Andrew spends most of his time providing Strategy Consultancy to team members and clients, acting as a Creative Director on some of Psychoactive’s most important projects, and conducting general Business Development and Managing Director Duties.

In his spare time, Andrew enjoys organising and running underground not-for-profit techno events and festivals for his community. He stays healthy with regular exercise and hiking, clean diet, and a well balanced sense of work and lifestyle.
